I researched some old rules for basketball and I found some pretty funny ones that I will share. Back when they played 6 on 6 they were not physical at all. Even if they touched them it would be a foul. There was no shouldering, holding, pushing, striking, or tripping. These days when we girls play basketball it is very physical. You end up have scratches, bruises, bleeding, and many injuries. There was only one foul given in this game. If you fouled the second time you would get ejected from the game. You couldn't get a sub player to go in for them. If you side had more then 3 fouls then the other team got a point. These days when we fouled we are allowed 5 fouls and our team gets 7 before we go 1 and 1. One and one is where a team gets 7 fouls and the person that got fouled get to shot 1 first and if they make it they get another for up to a total of 2 shots. If a team has a total of 10 fouls they get to shoot 2 shots no matter what. The umpires can call a foul on the team if they are playing delayed game. This meaning that they are not looking for a basket they just want to pass the ball. So they can keep the game in there favor. When we play these days delayed game is very common. We have played it many times so we can stay ahead of our opponents. These are some of the rules that changed from the first time that basketball came out to the current days.

ReplyDeleteI like how you did the old basketball rules. My mom use to play in it. I love all the information you put on it.

ReplyDeleteI did not know a bunch of this stuff about basketball! I'll use it when we play now! I couldn't imagine not having physical basketball today, it would be really weird.
