Track Meet #1

Track is a very tiring sport if you run long distance. Sprints can also be tiring. Some of the field events are shot, discus, long jump, and maybe hurdles. These are specialties that an individual can excel in at their own speed. Well me, I throw shot. I went to state last year as in my previous post. Our first meet is on Monday at Holstein, Iowa. This is almost thirty five minutes away from here. Im am really excited to see how far I am throwing because my coach does not let me see any measurements when I practice. I am guessing I am throwing around thirty four feet. Thats how far I threw to get to state last year. So to end this post I wanted to say good luck to all my lady mustangs and work to your fullest next Monday. :D

Starting to Throw

The track season starts on Monday and I have started to throw some. I am really excited to see how I do this year. The first time I throw recently was on Tuesday after school. I am throwing with Kylee Murra. He throws in college indoor and outdoor. He went to nationals for throwing the shot. Even in our first little bit of throwing practice I have learned a lot threw him. Some things I learned was how to get leg power into my throw, how to release the shot, and to get rid of my hold habits. He also has shown me some drills so i can get better. These drills are for foot work, quickness, and also for the technique. I am meeting up with him again today to have another practice. Hopefully I will get better out of this experience with him.

Experiencing 2010 State Track

I am getting really excited for our track season this upcoming spring. Last year I made it to the state meet in Des Moines, IA. I went to throw as just a freshman. This made me think that I was going to be very good at this in the future. That is why I can't wait until I can throw. Last year at the district meet in Laurens, IA i was thinking i was only a freshman and I never would have thought of going to state in the event. So as i was thinking that I also was thinking of my friend, Ada, who was a senior at the time. So had been throwing really well and i thought for sure she was going to get to state last year. Then she started throwing. She was not doing very well and things went down hill from there. So when I got up to throw i thought of her. I said to myself, "If she isn't going for her senior year then I am going to take her." So I threw the furthest I have ever threw placing me in the 2010 state track meet. When we got there we had tons of fun. Ada and I went and stayed in a hotel. Expenses paid by the school of course. :D We went out to eat at Granite City for supper and it was delicious. Then it got to the day that I threw. I really wasn't nervous, but everyone saying, "Don't be nervous" didn't help much. When i was throwing in the ring I got off a little thrown off because the ring was crooked. So i didn't throw very good that day but i will do better next year.
